He was posthumously awarded the Cross of Merit of the Minister of Defence of the Czech Republic, 2nd Class, In Memoriam, for his exceptional service in building and developing the Active Reserve of the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic, his significant cooperation with the Ministry of Defence, and his active promotion and popularization of voluntary military readiness duties.
“The Ministry of Defence departmental awards presented on Victory Day are traditionally linked to the stories of heroes, patriots, and brave men and women who fought for the liberation of our nation during World War II. Today, we once again honor the bravery of some of those individuals. However, awards will also be received by figures associated with the modern era of our military—those who have dedicated a significant part of their lives to it and have done so much for our defense and our country. It is they who carry forward the legacy of the anti-Nazi fighters and resistance members,” stated Minister Jana Černochová.
The award was accepted by Jiří Kunc’s daughter, Lucie.
