Join Us in Lešany on Saturday, May 30!

The Military Technical Museum Lešany will open its gates to the public on Saturday, May 30, 2026, launching its 31st visitor season. For the opening day, the Military History Institute Prague has prepared an exceptionally attractive program titled “Military Readiness Day for Children,” which will blend the exploration of military history with practical skills, physical disciplines, and dynamic displays of military equipment.

The Military Heritage Society of the Czech Republic has a long-standing commitment to supporting activities that bring military traditions, national readiness, and a responsible attitude toward state defense closer to the younger generation. Events of this nature demonstrate that military readiness education does not have to be merely a historical term, but can take on a vibrant, understandable, and appealing form today.

Free entry.

A total of 22 competitive stations will be prepared for children, which they can navigate accompanied by adults. Exciting challenges await them, including an obstacle course, crawling under barriers, a weighted run, strength disciplines, improvised grenade throwing, as well as airsoft and air rifle shooting ranges.

The program will also feature skill-based and knowledge-oriented tasks. Visitors will get to try their hand at knot-tying, navigating with a blind map, identifying state symbols, and memory challenges. Several disciplines will draw inspiration from historical late-19th-century military training, seamlessly blending the fun-filled program with military history.
Rewards and Highlights:

The competition phase will run until 2:30 PM. Successful participants will win the opportunity to ride in selected historical military vehicles, with rides scheduled for two sessions – at 12:30 PM and 3:30 PM. Other rewards will also be up for grabs, such as shooting a historical firearm or winning military and history-themed merchandise, including publications, coloring books, memory games (pexeso), and magazines.

In addition to the competitions, the Military Readiness Day will showcase exhibits from the collections of the Military History Institute Prague, alongside presentations by units of the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic and various military history clubs. Historical buses and other military equipment will also be on display throughout the venue.

The event is organized in cooperation with units of the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic, the military history clubs GARDEKORPS Prague and 7SCOTS, the Military and Police History Club, AGENCY CI-5, and other partners and volunteers.
